BEFORE :: ContempoDesign's website was originally designed and produced in a Flash application. The client was concerned that she could not make timely updates to the content due to the skill set required to work in Flash. Also, many of her clients and vendors complained that they could not view the Flash site and were unable to see the product offerings.

REQUIREMENTS :: In the interest of time and money, the client asked for a new site design with style guidelines and fully coded custom templates which she could delegate to her own staff designer to complete the rest of the website. She was so pleased with the elegance of the new design that her company incorporated it into their e - mail campaigns successfully producing a consistent brand look drawing their audience back to the website for information on products.

AFTER :: The templates were designed to provide a strong guideline for the client's staff to easily display as much content and product photos as they desired. Since the layout and template structure was so well defined, the staff required very little training to produce new web pages. The company’s interior designers now had control over their project sections and could promote their service and product offerings in a more timely way.

RESEARCH :: During our research for a unique design we listened carefully to the client’s concerns, her explanation of the company’s mission statement, and the website’s purpose and function. ContempoDesign's niche is to provide wealthy patrons with unique living spaces decorated with modern, yet elegant furniture. Reviewing competitor’s websites, advertisements and browsing through many of the client’s vendor sites, a theme immerged where elegance was communicated through simplicity. The furniture and unique lighting fixtures carried the ambiance and so using lots of white space to communicate simplicity, we direct the viewer’s eye to the product photos and designed the type to be light and airy for easy reading.

STRATEGY :: Beautiful spaces decorated with modern furniture of museum quality, the living spaces need to be front and center. Using pure white as the background color, instead of the gray and black, direct the eye to the photo and create an ethereal feeling as if you have stepped into heaven. Softly animating each new image allows the viewer an opportunity to take in all the creative solutions in each living space without distraction. The navigation is simple and non-intrusive. Using red from the company’s logo as an accent adds energy and a sense of confidence to each frame.

The navigation provides easy access to vendor links within two clicks from each page. The lists are designed in simple columns of red accent color and organized by room function. This design provides the client the abilitiy to continue to update and expand the information on their site as needed.

DESIGN :: Simple and clean. The templates are consistent and ease to manage. Most of the upkeep now involves changing the photos to show off their new creations which was exactly what ContempoDesigns requested.
